ok Mrs Brown has taken a new direction
Synopsis
Paddington returns to Peru to visit his beloved Aunt Lucy, who is currently living at the Bears’ Retirement Home. An exciting adventure with the Brown family ensues as a mystery takes them on an unexpected journey. Paul King, the director of the previous two films, decided not to direct this installment. However, he came up with the idea for this third film and is involved in its production as an executive producer. It stars Graham Norton and guests: Billy Crystal/Emily Mortimer/Hugh Bonneville/Pharrell Williams/Michael Kiwanuka (2024).
For a few minutes I thought: Oh no!!
For those who don’t know, previous incumbent Sally Hawkins said it was time to move on. I tried to warm up to her, but Emily Mortimer is just an older product of the London School of Lovely girls to me. I know the show has moved on, but Emily’s first steps are irritating and uninspiring. I really tried to warm up to her, she got a little weird later in the film… the least they could have done was give her a meaningful script, she seemed too much like a little wife who doesn’t say much.
A resounding success
Sorry, Em Madeleine Harris who plays Judy is the same, maybe next time there will be more lines for both of them. Maybe she wanted to be Sally Hawkins at some point, I’m not sure, but she had big boots to fill, and that was Sally. They all ended up doing their jobs very well. Either way, this time the lovely Peruvian finds himself taking the initiative and saving his family members. The journey takes Lahndan’s art all over the world and guess where…
the target audience
A family member is in trouble and the oldest stupidity and deadly sin is the cause of all the mischief. The scenery of the remote location is stunning, simply beautiful, it inspired me to go there, as did the bleakly happy London. There’s a lot of fun, action and tears in the film, but very young children, those with less than a brave nature, won’t find the show as heartwarming, sometimes scary, I thought. Visually it’s just as fantastic as the previous films, while the script is flat and a bit predictable at points, the mysteries revealed were simple enough for a five-year-old to understand… aha.
Forget healthy phobias of certain creatures (not snakes)
Haha…that doesn’t take away from the film’s CGI effect, and one in particular is ear-splitting. Bonneville seems to have had a hair transplant, but he may not always be a great artist, as do the Walters and some great newcomers to the story. Hey…a charming character from the latest film will show up, let’s just not think this is the end.
