Michael Schur was inspired to create The Man Within after watching the Chilean documentary Agent Mole
Synopsis
Charles, a retired man, gets a new lease on life when he answers an ad for a private detective and becomes a mole in an undercover investigation at a nursing home. He says, “The documentary ‘Agent Mole’ is powerful because it makes people feel incredibly similar regardless of age, ethnicity or gender, and I would describe that feeling very simply as ‘I have to call my mom.'” In our show, we sought to do the same with tone: basically, our show promotes that feeling of, why do we want to call our moms?.
Remake of El agente topo (2020)
As I write this, I’m currently on episode 5. This show is hilarious, thought-provoking, and honestly, delicious.
Ted Danson is great as usual
The rest of the cast is fascinating and exciting in this “Who made it” series. I’m just as involved in the criminal aspect as I am in the human aspect of loneliness.
Each of us, regardless of age, brings something new
I feel the warmth of the message without any sentimentality. The comedy is beautifully woven, and the laughs are genuine.
I hope this show continues in the same vein, which I really like
Bravo to the writers, actors, and directors who made the series a gem.
